Introducing our Sir Peter Blake Young Leader Nominee

Developing as a leader is a huge part of the Year 8 programme at Selwyn House. Every student applies for a leadership role throughout the school and spends a semester working alongside a mentor and leading the school in their selected area. These areas range from ICT to Spanish, Art and Technology to  Enviroschools Leaders. We aim to make a contribution at school level as well as out in the community. The programme is enormously successful and the skills gained from this opportunity are incredibly valuable.

Sir Peter Blake was passionate about young people developing as leaders. Every year, there is a competition called The Sir Peter Blake Young Leader Award. Selwyn House selects one talented leader to represent our school in this competition. Every Year 8 student applies to be our nominee by preparing an application and from this, the lucky girl is chosen.

This week, the short list of five very talented leaders was announced. A huge congratulations to these girls who work hard and make an enormous contribution to Selwyn House School.

  3. Aisha sounds like a worthy winner and I think an interview with her is a great idea so look forward to being able to show my class the video. I think that the preparation of students as leaders is hugely important.

Thank you 8C for your comments on our class page in Hamilton, our Lit Quiz team didn't do as well as yours with results but we did enjoy the experience.

Yes Mr Webb organized our Rugby, although we only had two weeks to get ready with all the bad weather that we have had. And he is a very passionate Waikato/Chiefs supporter having attended ever game for the last four years, and tonight he is happy because his team, our team, who are #1 in the competition and the country and playing some team called the Crusaders and he is going.
