Our Personal Projects

A huge part of our Year 8 learning at Selwyn House is to complete a Personal Project. This is where each student picks a subject they are passionate about and spends three terms inquiring into it. We work with a mentor who supports and encourages us. We then share our learning at the end with a big exhibition- a celebration of our learning for our families and friends.
We started with the question "what bothers you?" and thought about what we could change. 8C is doing a whole range of different things from raising awareness about women's sport in the media to creating a range of clothes for young girls.

I have chosen to create a blog about all the fun things that are going on around Christchurch such as Gapfiller and Greening the Rubble projects. My blog will be aimed at preteens because there are lots of interesting fun things going on in Christchurch that people don't know about.

Have a look at this google presentation about all the interesting things that our class is doing. What do you think of our ideas? Does your class do something similar; perhaps genius hour, passion projects or 20% time? We'd love to hear about the projects you are involved in. Leave us a comment.
