The Blueprint for our new city

Introducing the Christchurch Central Recovery Plan from CCDU on Vimeo.

As we prepare for the Amazing Place competition, it is really important that we are very familiar with CERA's Blueprint for Christchurch. Watch this video and write a comment giving feedback about the blueprint; what excites you about the blueprint? What are you not so sure about?

  1. I love the fact that they've included a Performing Arts precinct, I would definitely go there. I think they should focus a little on New Zealand's wildlife and plants, maybe a native bird house or something.

  2. I'm really excited about the Performing Arts precinct as I know I will definitely go there. I am worried that Christchurch is not focusing on the wildlife and plants being the Garden City.

  4. I think that Christchurch should be like Singapore, with trees down every road. This would really support our 'clean, green' image.

  5. I like what they are doing with Christchurch but I think that they need something to do with animals and theme parks and even a water park. I don't like how they are pulling the city together.

  6. I think that the idea of having the central city split into precincts is a very good idea and I like the look of the "new" Christchurch. I agree with Juliette on having a native bird house and to focus on NZ's wildlife and plants.

  8. I think that the big amount of trees and parks are a great idea. This will really promote the city's reputaion of being clean and green. I think that the ideas of separate precincts is good and bad. Positives are there are separate areas and that would be easy to know where they are. Negitives are that the city is in a really tight space and I think that thing could get very busy.

  9. I like what they're doing with christchurch and how it'll give people new chances to experience new things. I love how they've got a central library. It'll give people the chance to get into books. I don't like how they bunched everything together and the downside to that is that it'll be crowded and noisy. Also the disabled may get confused in the crowd. But asides from that i'm looking forward to seeing how the new christchurch turns out.

  10. I think that its great how in a new city, they still have lots of big green open spaces and they're making such an effort to make our city amazing. I like that there are going to be so many different perscints in the city, but parts seem a bit bitsy, but hopefully this will create a space that both toursts and locals will enjoy.
