Yesterday was the first day of Term 3. We began the day with Tuning In for our new UOI or Unit of Inquiry. We are an International Baccalaureate school and this unit is our "Sharing the Planet" unit. It is called Solve It and is all about conflict and resolution.
With all of our units, we start with a Tuning In experience with provokes our thinking and triggers lots of wonderings. Our units always start with looking at how the concept or concepts, relate to ourselves before we expand our thinking and look at the bigger picture. This time our concepts are conflict, perspectives and causation.
Today we started the unit by thinking about and role playing some of the real-life scenarios that have caused conflict in our school. We came up with possible solutions and shared our role plays. We learnt a new word: feasible and tried to ensure our solutions were feasible.
Here's one of the scenarios. Has this ever happened to you? What would you do if it did? Leave us a comment; we'd love to hear from you.
A friend who sits next to you in class always borrows your pencils, ruler and glue stick. One day you don’t have a pencil and you ask to borrow one of hers. She says no. What can you do?
