Sharing our learning through Minecraft

In Term 2, our Unit of Inquiry was called, "I Love the Knight Life" and it was all about the structures of the Middle Ages; not structures like castles and bridges but structures like marriage and health care and childhood. We looked at the structures that made up Middle Ages society and thought about how how things have changed since then and which things remain and have influenced the way we live now.

We all did a personal inquiry into some aspect of the Middle Ages and then had a choice as to how we shared what we'd learned. Most of us chose to use Minecraft. We are huge Minecraft fans and some of us are incredibly skilled at creating worlds.

(As an aside, there was a story on Seven Sharp recently about minecraft and every single student was a BOY! We are very frustrated and using our persuasive techniques to write a letter to Seven Sharp about girls and minecraft!)

Anyway, here are some screenshots from our Minecraft work.

Here's some of Abby's work about Homes and Castles:

We were very excited to see your Minecraft Work - unfortunatly the Fottobabble wouldn't play in our class (we think its a restriction at our end). We loved the look of the Castles and we loved the fact that you had posted examples of your learning in the form of signs on the wall extremely creative. We are very excited about the Cheifs - everyone in our school has a free poster and some of our students are going to the game on Saturday.
