Sir Peter Blake Young Leader Award

Leadership is such a big part of life as a Year 8 at Selwyn House. We have time every week dedicated to developing as leaders and making a contribution to our school and community. Every Y8 has a leadership role and is given the opportunity to be a role model.

We recognise the leadership potential of a promising Year 8 with the Sir Peter Blake Young Leader award. This is a national program and all Year 8 girls apply for this honour with a letter of application outlining their attributes and achievements. Five girls are selected as shortlisted nominees. This is a huge achievement and we are incredibly proud of these young leaders who are making a HUGE contribution to our school:
 Holly Macdonald
Holly McCarron
Eilish Malloch
Anna O'Grady
Hana Pearce

Eilish, Holly Mc, Hana, Anna and Holly Mac
The winner of the Sir Peter Blake Award for 2014 is Hana Pearce. Hana volunteers for everything and is always very keen to help out where she can. She has lots of initiative and a real passion and drive to make our school a better place.
Well done, Hana!

  1. Kia Ora my name is Renei, I am a Year 8 student at Whakatane Intermediate School. I really like this award. It's a way to recognise students who are doing good for your community like you said. My school has a similar award. At the end of the year we have a big assembly students who have been great leaders and who have shown amazing attitude towards school work and school activities will be awarded.
How long has this award been going for?
